holding time.

Stoneware clay, purple underglaze, gloss glaze

I have explored the notion of holding time in how the use of physical markings on objects translate the passage of time. These surface markings are forever frozen from a moment in time, which can be physically picked up and re-experienced. I created organic forms that are not rigid and clinically perfected to mimic those found in nature, as the surface for my markings. All the ceramics vessels have been formed by hand by either coiling or pinch method. All pieces are organic forms that can be held in your hands and have practical uses to store or hold other things. Deep blue glaze is splattered on and dripping down the sides of ceramic vessels. these hand formed vessels are reflective of the iterative technical process and the organic flow of energy as each piece is crafted.
